Instructions

Objective

Cover as much distance as possible in 12 minutes.

Before you can even think about elite selection, you must prove your baseline fitness. The Cooper Test is a legendary assessment of aerobic endurance, developed by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper in 1968 for the U.S. military. This test has since been used by special forces worldwide to determine who has the stamina to operate under extreme conditions.

The challenge: Run as far as possible in 12 minutes. The passing standard for GSG9 selection? At least 3,000m. Fail to meet the mark, and you’re already out of contention. Can you push yourself beyond the elite standard?

Requirements

  • Submit your 'Elapsed Time'

Fitness trackers can often automatically pause the time when standing still. This is why you are required to submit your elapsed time, not your 'moving' time.

  • Set treadmill gradient to 2.5%

It is preferred that you tackle this challenge outside, however, if you are unable to do so you are permitted to use a treadmill just as long as the gradient is set at 2.5%.

Evidencing

  • GPS Fitness Tracker
    Submit screenshot of fitness activity.
