5.8km (3.6-miles) weighted march under 46-mins

Advanced: 20kg
Intermediate: 15kg
Moderate: 10kg
Novice: 5kg

Bonus points awarded for elevation gain achieved.

    Challenge Description

Week three requires you to run 5.8km (3.6-miles) carrying a weight specific to your level of entry with a time of 46 minutes to beat. It has been inspired by the Gurkha recruitment Doko race, a gruelling physical challenge carrying a basket of rocks uphill for 5.8km in the Himalayas.

The Doko refers to a traditional woven basket in which the weight is carried. The basket straps to the individual's back, with a forehead strap used for extra support. Sounds tough, right? The good news is, we don't expect you to carry your weight in a Doko basket (phew). Feel free to use whatever weight you like, however, we strongly recommend either a weighted rucksack or weighted vest for this challenge.

The added element of 'elevation gain bonus points' means this challenge requires a level of careful thought and strategic planning. Include too much elevation in your route and you risk not hitting the target time. Too little and you could miss out on valuable points.
