Inspired by the traditional Gurkha recruitment Doko race, week three requires you to run 5.8km carrying a weight specific to your level. Bonus points are awarded for elevation gain and time achieved.

Description

Cover a distance of 5.8km (3.6-miles) in as quick as time as possible whilst bearing a weighted load specific to your level of entry.


Advanced: 20kg

Intermediate: 15kg

Moderate: 10kg

Novice: 5kg


Bonus points awarded for achieving the set distance in under 46 minutes, as per the actual Gurkha Doko Race. Bonus points are also awarded for elevation gain achieved during the set distance.

Recommendations

  • Use a weighted rucksack or weighted vest

    We recommend you conduct the challenge carrying either a weighted rucksack or wearing a weighted vest set to the weight of your entry-level.

  • Plan your route before departure

    If you're looking to gain as many elevation gain bonus points as possible, we recommend planning your route beforehand on a route planner such as Map My Run to take the guess work out when conducting the challenge.

  • Run hill repeats to acquire elevation gain

    If you are not lucky enough to live in an elevation-rich area, we recommend finding a spot with the biggest elevation profile as possible and running hill repeats until completion. We know this may sound boring but this is a test of both physical and mental resilience.

Evidencing

If you have purchased a Challenge Pack, you are eligible to submit your challenge evidence for review, verification and scoring. You may only submit your evidence once. All evidence is final.

  • Photograph of weight on scales

Before submitting, please make sure you have ready:

  • Weblink to Evidence

Acquiring a Weblink

Unfortunately, we do not yet have the technology to allow you to directly upload your evidence, so in order for you to submit your evidence we require you to submit a weblink to such evidence. There are a number of ways to get a weblink to your evidence, you can either:

  • Upload your evidence to our Team Rokman Facebook Group
  • Share the direct weblink to your fitness tracker activity
  • Share a link to a screenshot of your activity via a file-sharing website such as wetransfer.com

Deadline: 7-Days

It is highly recommended that you complete the challenge within 7-days of its issue, however, we will accept submissions right up until 7-days after the end of the series. We will not accept submissions after this time.
