The Challenges
Week 1
Cooper Test
Time
12 minutes
Before you can even think about elite selection, you must prove your baseline fitness. The Cooper Test is a legendary assessment of aerobic endurance, developed by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper in 1968 for the U.S. military. This test has since been used by special forces worldwide to determine who has the stamina to operate under extreme conditions.
The challenge: Run as far as possible in 12 minutes. The passing standard for GSG9 selection? At least 3,000m. Fail to meet the mark, and you’re already out of contention. Can you push yourself beyond the elite standard?
Week 2
The Blitz Sprint Gauntlet
Distance
100m
Repetitions
4
Speed is survival in tactical operations. GSG9 candidates are tested on their ability to accelerate, close distances quickly, and maintain explosive power under pressure. This isn’t just about raw speed—it’s about resilience and recovery.
The challenge: Perform four all-out 100m sprints, each separated by one minute of rest. Your total combined time is your final score. For reference, GSG9 operators are expected to complete a single 100m sprint in 13.4 seconds or less—can you maintain elite-level speed across four rounds?
Week 3
The Iron March
Distance
6km
Week 4
The Long Pursuit
Distance
9km
Selection isn’t just about one-off efforts—it’s about sustaining high performance under pressure. The 9km endurance test is a critical marker of an operator’s ability to keep going when exhaustion sets in. GSG9 requires their candidates to complete this in 39 minutes or less—and so do we.
The challenge: Run 9km for time. There are no shortcuts, no excuses. This is about pushing through fatigue, silencing the voice that tells you to stop, and proving that you have what it takes to endure when it matters most.

★★★★★
The challenges was great, you could choose a level that suited you but still pushed you as you were trying to reach times and targets within your level. The chat and motivation within the group was good and really helped push you along.

How does it work?
How does it work?
How long do we have to complete each challenge?
We recommend that you complete each challenge within 7-days from the date of issue. However, we understand that life can often get in the way, so that’s why accept submissions up until 7-days after the end of the monthly series.
What is someone cheats?
We do our very best to weed out any cheating by asking people to evidence their challenge attempts. However, due to the nature of this being an online challenge series, it’s not 100% fool proof. We have to take everyone’s submissions at face-value. If we can confidently identify people either cheating or doing the challenge incorrectly, we will notify the competitor privately via email. At the end of the day, the leaderboard is just a bit of competitive fun. These challenges are personal tests of resilience. If people decide to cheat, they’re only cheating themselves. If you concentrate on yourself and give your best honest performance then you can hold your head high at the end of the day.
What if I don't enjoy it, can I get a refund?
Absolutely! If you try it and decide it's not for you, we offer a 30-day no questions asked money back guarantee.
Can I use a treadmill?
All running challenges are designed to undertaken outside, however, if you are unable to go outside we will accept treadmill entries. If participating on a treadmill, the treadmill must be set at a 2.5 degree angle.
